Digest
SB 807 amends the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure to allow for broader venue options in the prosecution of offenses involving the fraudulent use or possession of credit card or debit card information. Under this bill, such offenses may be prosecuted in the county where the offense was committed or in the county of residence of any individual whose card information was unlawfully obtained, possessed, transferred, or used by the defendant. The bill also amends Article 38.19(a) to include Section 32.315 of the Penal Code, encompassing fraudulent use or possession of credit card or debit card information, aligning it with existing provisions related to fraud. This Act will take effect on September 1, 2025.
