Interim Hearing | Online Gaming, Family Courts & Texas Lottery
Event Details
The Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs will hold an interim hearing on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room E1.012 of the Texas Capitol.
The committee will examine online gaming platforms that target minor children, including advertising practices, age verification, and youth protections. Senators will consider recommendations intended to prevent minors from accessing violent and sexual content in games and to restrict communications between minors and adult strangers on gaming platforms.
Lawmakers will also study Texas divorce and child custody proceedings, including concerns involving unpredictable timelines, unnecessary delays, repetitive child evaluations, and other complications affecting families. The committee will consider recommendations to improve consistency in family courts and prioritize the best interests of children.
The committee will additionally review implementation of Senate Bill 3070 (SB 3070), passed during the 89th Legislature (2025), which abolished the Texas Lottery Commission and transferred administration of the state lottery and regulation of charitable bingo to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
Invited and public testimony will be heard. Public testimony will be limited to two minutes per witness.
