The Texas Senate Committee on Transportation will hold an interim hearing on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room E1.016 of the Texas Capitol.

The committee will examine the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) use of increased funding for rail-grade separation projects and how those investments are being prioritized to improve mobility and public safety.

Senators will also study the deployment of autonomous vehicle technology under legislation enacted during the 89th Legislature, including agency rulemaking, the effect of autonomous vehicles on traffic-related collisions, and the evolving technological landscape on Texas roads.

The committee will additionally review commercial driver license standards and oversight, including third-party CDL training and testing, roadside enforcement, English-language proficiency requirements, the validity of CDL-related documents, and safeguards against Social Security fraud.

Invited and public testimony will be heard. Public testimony will be limited to two minutes per witness.
