Biography

Rep. Don McLaughlin is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, first elected in 2025 to represent District 80, which covers Atascosa, Dimmit, Frio, Uvalde, Webb (Part), and Zavala counties. His 2024 election flipped the seat from Democratic to Republican control for the first time in more than two decades, succeeding retiring longtime Rep. Tracy King.

Before his election to the House, Rep. McLaughlin served as Mayor of Uvalde from 2014 to 2023, holding the office during the May 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting. As a small business owner, he co-founded DKM Enterprises, a pipe supply business based in Uvalde.

For the 89th Legislative Session, Speaker Dustin Burrows appointed Rep. McLaughlin to the House Committees on Agriculture & Livestock and Homeland Security, Public Safety & Veterans’ Affairs.
