Biography

Rep. Maria Luisa “Lulu” Flores is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives, first elected in 2023 to represent District 51, which covers portions of eastern Travis County including parts of Austin, Creedmoor, Garfield, Hornsby Bend, and Mustang Ridge. She is an attorney by profession and a longtime Austin resident.

Rep. Flores earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. Before her election to the Texas House, she had a long career as a practicing attorney in Austin and was active in civic and bar association leadership, including service with the Hispanic National Bar Association.

For the 89th Legislative Session, Speaker Dustin Burrows appointed Rep. Flores as Vice-Chair of the House Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism and as a member of the House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence.
