Born July 13, 1962, Rep. Harless has lived in Northwest Harris County since 1976. He started working at age 14 mowing lawns before building a career as a small-business owner. Today, he and his wife Patricia own Fred Fincher Motors, a second-generation independent automobile dealership in Spring. He succeeded Rep. Kevin Roberts in HD 126; his wife Patricia previously represented the same district in the Texas House from 2007 to 2016, making the Harless family a rare case of consecutive spouses serving the same seat.
Rep. Harless is a longtime supporter of local law enforcement, having served for many years on both the Harris County Constable’s Precinct 4 Training Advisory Board and the Harris County Sheriff Training Advisory Board. He also serves on the board of Lone Star College and actively supports the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts, Northwest Assistance Ministries, the Centrum Arts League, the Klein Educational Foundation, and the Cy-Fair ISD Educational Foundation. He and Patricia are active members of Champion Forest Baptist Church.
For the 89th Legislative Session, Speaker Dustin Burrows appointed Rep. Harless as Chair of the House Committee on Corrections, as well as to the House Administration and Licensing & Administrative Procedures committees.
