Texas Policy Research (TPR) is excited to welcome John Beckmeyer as the organization’s new Director of Development. A fifth-generation Texan, Beckmeyer brings a wealth of experience in leadership, public service, and organizational growth that will prove invaluable to TPR’s mission.
Beckmeyer’s career spans more than 30 years across diverse fields, including municipal management, corporate leadership, and technology consulting. His unique background blends technical expertise with a commitment to service, innovation, and strengthening the institutions he leads.
A Career Rooted in Texas Leadership
Beckmeyer’s professional journey has taken him through some of Texas’ most important institutions. He served as City Manager of Odessa, where he was responsible for guiding one of West Texas’s largest cities through growth and change. He has served as Executive Director of the Republican Party of Texas, where he oversaw statewide operations, fundraising, and organizational management for one of the largest political organizations in the country.
These roles reflect not only his leadership skills but also his ability to navigate both public and private sectors with credibility and effectiveness.

His arrival marks a significant step forward in TPR’s growth and long-term sustainability.
About John Beckmeyer
Beckmeyer holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Sam Houston State University and an Associate of Science in Agriculture from Western Texas College. He and his wife, Teresa, live near Loraine, Texas. Together, they are the proud parents of three grown children and grandparents to one grandson.
His personal and professional background reflects the values of hard work, family, and service; principles that align closely with TPR’s vision for Texas.
