Rep. John H. Bucy III is a native Texan and small business owner serving District 136 in the Texas House of Representatives. First elected in 2018, he represents part of Williamson County, including Northwest Austin, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Round Rock, and the Brushy Creek area.

Rep. Bucy was named Vice Chair of the House Committee on Elections and Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Disease Prevention and Women’s and Children’s Health for the 89th Legislative Session. He was also appointed to the House Committee on Public Health and House Committee on Local and Consent Calendars. He has previously served on the Higher Education Committee; Health Care Reform, Select Committee; Constitutional Rights and Remedies, Select Committee; the Culture, Recreation & Tourism Committee; and the Transportation Committee. Rep. Bucy is Chair of the Young Texans Legislative Caucus, Vice Chair of the Innovation & Technology Caucus, and formerly served on the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG).
Rep. Bucy was named by his peers as House Democratic Caucus Freshman of the Year in 2019 and by the Hill Country News as Best Elected Official in 2019 and 2020. He is the founder and President of the Texas Charter School Academic & Athletic League (TCSAAL), which provides athletic, academic, and arts competitions for charter school students across Texas.
Rep. Bucy grew up in Austin and attended Austin College in Sherman, where he earned his degree in Liberal Arts with a major in history. He serves on the board of the Special Olympics of Texas and supports the Big Bend Conservancy. He and his wife, Molly, have two daughters, Bradley Harper Bucy and Parker Madison Bucy. The Bucys live in Northwest Austin.
